Costumes with Character highlights eleven different eras in American History from the 1600's to the 1900's. There is just one dress and each chapter has patterns and step-by-step instructions with color illustrations on how to make cuffs, aprons, bonnets, hats, collars, vests, etc. to go with each time period. Contained in each section is a fun questionnaire about the events that took place during that era. The chapters also include inspiring quotes from famous people that lived during each time period such as William Bradford, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Teddy Roosevelt, and Helen Keller, just to mention a few.
